Marbella and Puerto Banus are within 1.5 hours and Malaga, which is full of culture and wonderful shops, a mere 40 minutes away. Nerja and its famous caves are definitely worth a visit – 25 minutes. The beautiful Alhambra Palace in Granada is 1.5 hours away and Sevilla a couple of hours.
The coast is just a very scenic 20-minute drive away.   The nearest beach is Torre del Mar and here one can find some fine beach bars. Drive a bit further east  along the coast to find more intimate and private beaches and just outside Nerja the famous Burriana beach.

Casa Beni is on the very edge of one of the famous whitewashed villages of Andalucia, Canillas de Aceituno. From here one can explore the rest of the Axarquia countryside or go down to the coast, where the pace is a little faster.

Canillas de Aceituno is of Moorish origin and there are still many signs to be seen of this era.The town derived its name from the 8th century Moorish name of Azeytuni, which means a fabric made with silk.
The village is situated on the scenic Mudejar Route, at 645 metres in the foothills of the Sierra Tejada mountain range. La Maroma, which is directly above the village, is the highest mountain in Malaga Province and reaches 2,080 metres.

Casa Beni lies on the very edge of the western side of Canillas de Aceituno.  A gentle four-minute walk takes one to the very centre of the village.  Here there are several greengrocer-type shops where one can buy nearly everything one needs.  There are also two butchers, a chemist and a couple of ironmungers.  Canillas is a 'working village'  and therefore there are also picture framers, carpenters, stone- masons and artists, to name but a few of the local tradesmen.
There are several typical Spanish bars and restaurants.  This is a truly Spanish village full of life, smiles  and tradition.
